And the winner is…

Posted in Events, Graffiti  by Invasian Editor
Congradulations to Shake from Indonesia for winning the June Handstyle Friday Battle.

Here’s are James thought:
I must say, there’s a ton of great entries! But my 2 favorites are Shake’s and Kenji’s
handstyle. Each one has it’s own unique style and a recognition of the history of
certain styles. Admittedly i love funky styles so Kenji’s handstyle i thought was really
dope. The easy to read, playful script was something i’d love to see on a subway inside
with a nice chisel tip marker. It’s a clean, creative handstyle that doesn’t scream graffiti
when i look at it.
Shake’s handstlye on the other hand is representative to me of a great, developed,
traditional graffiti schooled handstyle. The well placed hooks and curves on the
letters, the fact that each character has it’s own unique development but they are
still close and tight together and frequently connected in a clever way - i love the
“R” attaching into the “A” - is really dope and the well placed quote, star and
underline pull everything together.
Both are great, but shake really takes it, no doubt.

Battle of the Year Bielefeld

Posted in Events, bboy  by Invasian Editor

With different kind of reasons, I couldn’t manage to see

the battle of the year in the last few years every time when I went

to Europe. Either I missed it, or I was too early there…

But this year, I am able to catch at least one battle where it’s held

in an old train station in Bielefeld, Germany. Thanks Daniel brought us in.

We didn’t stay until the final as we were in a hurry to work on

another party. So here is just part of the event.

Dabs interview

Posted in Graffiti  by Invasian Editor

Bombing Science did an interview with Dabs, one of the early cats

smashing Taiwan.

“It’s a difficult relationship being forged between our proud little

subculture and the commercial world. At times it can be helpful,

accelerating careers into international levels, allowing writers to

see the world and realize youthful dreams. Other times, it just looks

like they’re kicking us in the balls and patting us on the back all at once.

So I recently connected with DABS (aka Dbsk1) an artist currently based

in Taipei, Taiwan with a long graffito-rap-sheet and a slighter newer

career as a artist working within the current world to talk about this

strange symbiosis and more…”

RIP Micheal Jackson

Posted in Events  by Invasian Editor

June doesnt seems to be a pleasant month. After Iz left us, now it’s the guy

who taught everyone how to moonwalk. Keep rocking in heaven, RIP MJ.

“LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the “King of Pop” who once moonwalked

above the music world, died Thursday as he prepared for a comeback bid

to vanquish nightmare years of sexual scandal and financial calamity. He was 50.”

Aroe in New Delhi

Posted in Graffiti  by Invasian Editor

New Delhi, India. June 2009.
Not meant as a graffiti trip, didn’t plan anything, didn’t expect anything, wasn’t even really about that.. This was a short sight seeing tour of the capital of India and its surrounding areas. Me my girl, some cash, a taxi driver, a few grout pens and some montanas that magically didn’t get pulled out of my luggage. Heres sort of how it went (well, the graffiti part anyway)…

… All in all, if you were going on a graffiti campaign, India wouldn’t know what was going on frankly. I reckon you could do as many a day as you wanted, it would just be a case of what paint to use and where to get it.
