Earth Hour

I was outside the city the other night when everyone was

at the harbour counting down for the Earth Hour. To me,

the streets looked just like the same as it was every day.

None of the shops or average people really gave a damn

about it. But man, at least they’re being honest to everyone.

I absolutely think that Earth Hour is a good thing to

show that you care 0.01% of the earth, especially

when all the big guys behind cooperates signs up

for the action and pretends that they saved the world. 

I really love the government when they act like

they showed great support to the environment by

stopping their laser show for one night. What about

the next day, is the government going to give up

tourism and focus more on the environment? NO.

Once in a while you always hear people talking about

saving the world for your next generation, but they

probably forgot how many plastic toys they brought

for their kids in Christmas. Did people ever thought

of how many polluted air generates in the air by all

these toy factories? Hell NO.

Did anyone thought of the environmental effect for 

not driving an hour or smoking less a pack of cigarette

is far better than switching the lights for 1 hour.

Is everyone going to give up driving or smoking

because of the environment? The answer is NO again. 

I truly hope that the Earth Hour can bring more attention

to every people, but you and i could probably guess that

most of us aren’t going to give up our own interest for

the earth. Instead we can try to switch the lights for 1 hour

or use less plastic bags to make ourself feel better and

hope that the earth can die slower. I rather admit that

I’m an asshole than being a hypocrite coz I won’t give up

my interest to focus everything on the environment.

If you switch the light for an hour and you smoke, don’t tell

me you care about the environment coz cigarette smoke

generates more than 50 cancer-causing chemicals, and at

least 250 chemicals that are either toxic or carcinogenic.

If you switch the light off for an hour and you own a car,

don’t tell me you care about the environment, coz you gave

someone a lung cancer every hour, and you gave 2 person

lung cancer by paying a hundred bucks more to get your

smog check passed.

If you switch the light off for an hour and you have a

cell phone, don’t tell me you care about the environment

coz all the radiation a cell phone produce is causing nerve

and brain damage not just to yourself but also to a lot of

other species and their habitat.

If you switch the light off for an hour and you reading this

blog with your computer, don’t tell me you care about the

environment, coz you and the other gazillion computer users

are generating heat every day to cook up the earth.

You simply think you cared the earth because you did

something that you thought was easy and everyone should

follow. You really need to wake up and realize that there’s

much more going on in this world that’s killing your planet.

Here’s the conclusion: If you feel that you did something

for the earth by switching off the light once in a year,

good for you. There are much more we can do but we didn’t

coz we’re a bunch of self-cantered human beings. So unless

everyone is willing to put their self interest aside,

we will see the green earth in photoshop only.
