From Beijing To Berlin

Posted in Graffiti, Invasian news  by Invasian Editor

At the end of last year, ANDC from ABS crew, which won the final graffiti battle
of Wall Lords 2011, was visiting Germany for 20 days. It was really hard for the
Mainland Chinese to travel outside their country. Back then I was still organizing
Wall Lords, I had a free ticket to go to Korea for joining our Korean stage,
it was such a shame that I was in Germany and the event was just one day before
I returned. I had to give up but I wanted to pass the great opportunity to

someone who is helpful and might want to step out of their country. I picked Touch

from China at that time, I thought it would be a great chance for him. However,

it also looked like I also passed him trouble.

At that time, Touch told us it is not like you want to go and you can just go.

He had to pay RMB50,000 (around USD7900 or 6000eur) as a deposit to the government

before he left the country. I guess that is because they don’t want their people running

away. Imagine, how many people in China can afford to pay that much money

to get a chance to travel. People even have difficulty to live from their salary

perhaps RMB2000 per month. Sadly, the government wants to make it even more difficult.

Anyway, luckily ANDC didn’t have to pay this time. He was invited as artist

to join the EU x CN graffiti project organized by FHTF and Invasian is supporting.

Let’s check out what he has experienced in Germany.

Happy News Year 2012

Posted in Events, Graffiti, Invasian news  by Invasian Editor

An idea in my mind couple years ago that I wanted to bridge the Asian

writers by doing individual letter out of a sentence or message in their

own city. Finally the project was done just in time by 18 writers from different

countries in Asia. Last year there were many bad news like the earthquake

and nuclear leak in Japan, BBK flooding, typhoon in Philippines, etc.

Therefore, hopefully this year we’ll have better and happier news from 2012.

The project time was very short there was literally one week from sending out

email to receiving pictures. I was really amazed by the participants that they

were able to reply and get their letter done so quickly! Huge respect to everyone

who joined the project and put their effort fully during the X’mas & new year holiday!

Here I wish everyone to have a super happy new year in 2012!

Mellowpark 10th Year Anniversary

Posted in Events, Invasian news, Skateboard, Sport  by Invasian Editor

To be precise, Mellowpark is running by a community called “all eins e.V.”

and this community had its 10th birthday one week ago. I was invited to join

their celebration and witness the 10 years development. My bf Mo told me

that Jens is like a magician that he has turned the concept of Mellowpark

from nothing to the biggest outdoor skate/sportspark nowadays in Europe.

To celebrate their 10th year anniversary, “all eins e.V.” also released a book

about the ten years development of the community and the Mellowpark.

Here are some photos that I took at the party. Sorry I know the quality

of the pictures is not good enough, just want to give you the feeling and vibe.

Helo From Hellsinki, Finland - Part 4

Posted in Graffiti, Invasian news  by Invasian Editor

This gonna be the last post of my Finland trip. I really have to say BIG BIG

thanks to my homie Trama that he told me a lot about the graffiti history

of Finland as well as showed me all those important areas such as the first

hall of fame in Helsinki, the Helsinki graffiti place of birth and the train yard.

The Zero Tolerance project in Finland started in 1998, after 10 years

and all the debates, it stopped and brought this over 80 meters official

legal wall in Suvilahti. It looked endless to me when I walked there.

The below image could not show you the whole thing, check the photos

and every wall started with the new sign belonged to the wall.

Helo From Hellsinki, Finland - Part 2

Posted in Art, Events, Graffiti, Invasian news, Skateboard  by Invasian Editor

To continue the preceding post about Finland, I would like to share you the photos

that I took in MTN gallery in Finland - Make Your Mark Garage / Gallery. I have been

travelling to visit the MTN family since the MTN Distributors Barcelona Meeting 2005.

Back then I was just helping my friend Dofi, the first MTN distributor in Hong Kong,

to take note during the meeting as his partner can’t join the meeting. I was really

the lucky one. Then I took over the Asia distribution in 2008, well, shit happened,

anyway, now the distribution runs by 3 parties, Dirty-Panda, Stan, and me.

Sorry I was off topic, before I went to Finland, I was still thinking of Timo & Kims,

who were the Finnish representative in the meeting, I wondered how I could visit

the distributors there although I have been hearing the rumors that they are in

super trouble. Somehow, all of a sudden, my friend Trama is the current one.

So I feel I did one of my missions on this trip.

The gallery is located in Suvilahti where the first Helsinki hall of fame is built.

Later I will show you more photos of this biggest hall of fame in Finland.

Suvilahti is a former energy production area in Sörnäinen, Helsinki,

and the gallery is in Puhdistamo (building 6), pretty good location.

What I like most is the set up next to the gallery, there are seats from trains,

traffic light from track, a framed poster that is a photo taken in 1988 from

a train station with full of legendary Finnish writers tags, train map with

different lines, plus no ticket control.

At the moment there is an exhibition by Hannaleena Heiska & Rauha Mäkilä:
Work in progress (Mr. Ward forever)
, check out the gallery and the show.

Helo From Hellsinki, Finland - Part 1

Posted in Graffiti, Invasian news, WTF  by Invasian Editor

Last week I spent 5 days in Helsinki, Finland, was visiting my friends
and hoping to experience the darkness there. So when I arrived at
the afternoon, I could feel it straight away.

My homie Trama from FTC (Fuck The Cops) who started writing in 1986,

came to pick up and we headed back to his apartment, after unloading my luggage,

the Finnish graffiti history tutorial started. Trama showed me a book that

just released a week ago which is about the Zero Tolerance project against graffiti

in Finland. The book idea is originated with Mikael Brunila, Kukka Ranta

and Eetu Viren. There are lots of details and data that you would have no clue

how they can get them.

The book is mainly driven by text which I like the idea very much as it is

different from most of the graffiti book. There is only very few images

but they are good enough to show you how bad the project is.

Back From Bielefeld

Posted in Art, Events, Graffiti, Invasian news  by Invasian Editor

Last week I was in a small city of Germany called Bielefeld to participate in an

exhibition called Up, Down ‘N Around. The event opening was pretty boisterous

and it spread from the venue to different corners of Bielefeld in the next few days.

Here are some highlights for you.

Big up to Sascha and every artist who makes effort to bring colors

to the dull or steel sides of the city.
