B-girl Art Breaker – Hanifa Queen

Posted in Art, Bboy  by Invasian Editor

Introducing by Martha Cooper, Hanifa McQueen-Hudson is the first B-girl

in United Kingdom. Born and raised of Jamaican parents, Hanifa’s

African Caribbean culture and heritage strongly influenced her skills

and knowledge in black music and dance from a very young age. From the

age of 5, she was taught how to play various drums and percussions

from West Africa and was later introduced to the B Boy scene in the early ’80s.

“Hey! Check the one in red—it’s a girl!” are heard on a video of the UK’s

first B-Boy pop music video, Electro Rock. Yes, check the one in red,

that’s hanifa.

Handstyle Friday July – WINNER

Posted in Events, Graffiti, Invasian news  by Invasian Editor

First off thanks everyone for participating the contest. It’s great to see more people

sending us their works.

So here we are in the Handstyle Friday July, and the winner for this month is: CRITTER 1

Congradulations to critter. The words was done on a black trashbag with a silver

marker if you’re wondering.

Here’s Akim Zebster’s comment:
I like Critter’s handstyle the most! Good letters, flow and “type image”.
A cool street style done with a tag marker.

Other works that’s also cool:

Dajam One
Simple, readable handstyle with a good  “type image”.
NEXT TIME USE A REAL MARKER AND A SOLID PAPER !

Ka Booom
More stylish letters, but I don’t like that he split the phrases…
so the “type image” looks not so great.

Crez
This one I like it also. Super simple “handwritten ” letters, but great “type image”. Almost like a logo! Reminds me about the good old days when ZEPH and RTW were rolling :)
